Q.1 What is International Baccalaureate Organization?

The IBO is an international organization, not associated with any particular country and free of any national, political or educational agendas. The International Baccalaureate (IB) offers high quality programmes of international education to a worldwide community of schools. It was founded in 1968 and is based in Geneva, Switzerland. IBO offers four programmes for students aged 3 to 19 and helps them develop the intellectual, personal, emotional and social skills to live, learn and work in a rapidly globalizing world. The four programmes are:
The Primary Years Programme IB PYP (Kindergarten to Class 5)
The Middle Years Programme IB MYP (Class 6 to Class 10)
The Diploma Programme IB DP (Class 11 to Class 12)
The Career- related Programme IB CP (class 11 to 12)
At present WGS offers EYP (Elementary Years Programme), IB PYP (Primary Years Programme) and IB MYP (Middle Years Programme). WGS is a candidate school.

Q.2 Is it mandatory for an IB school to offer all three programs?

Schools can choose to offer any or all of the programmes. Each programme has independent process for authorization. IB offers specific authorisation separately for each programme.

Q.3 How is IB different from any other board of education?

The IB programme is practical and application-based.
It has a broader spectrum of subjects that lead to all-round development.
The purpose of the IB is to produce global citizens, but it can be well-integrated with the local curriculum.

The Association of Indian Universities (AIU) rates the IB Diploma at par with Class 12 CBSE, ICSE, NIOS or State Boards. Many educational institutions and colleges have published their policies and entry criteria for IB students on their websites. Q.10 What Programmes does WGS offer besides IB programmes?

  • Elementary Years Programme ( Nursery, KG 1 & KG 2)
  • IB PYP to primary classes (Grade 1 to 5)
  • A Choice between IB MYP and National curriculum after grade 5. We are pursuing on CBSE affiliation also. While both the programmes are running on the same campus, each one is housed in independent and well equipped state-of-the-art buildings.
  • We are pursuing on the CBSE affiliation and by 2019-2020 the school will have all grades from Nursery to Grade-12.

Yes, change from one programme to other is possible and students adapt effortlessly.
