International Baccalaureate (IB)

Wockhardt Global School (WGS) is a candidate school for the Primary Years Programme. The school is pursuing authorization as an IB World School. IB World Schools share a common philosophy- a commitment to high-quality, challenging, and international education- that we believe is important for our students.

IBPYP is a trans disciplinary programme which focuses on developing the whole child. Students learn through examining units which are delivered by both classroom teachers and subject specialists. In the primary school, we have specialist teachers of art, music, dance, and PE. Hindi is taught as the language of the host country and French is an additional language that students lean.

WGS has opted to teach an international curriculum for the Primary School. We deliver a programme which is a structured international curriculum that combines national school systems with the collective knowledge and experience of international schools to provide an excellent educational programme for children. It provides relevant, engaging and meaningful programme for children from diverse cultures and language backgrounds and is transferable within national and international systems.

We focus on the development of the whole child: academic, social, physical and emotional. This is expressed in the overall aims of our programme, which is to encourage young people to become inquirers, thinkers, and communicators, risk-takers, knowledgeable, principled, caring, open-minded, balanced and reflective. These characteristics are outlined in the IB Learner Profile and are explicitly taught in the IB curriculum taught at WGS
Through an inquiry based approach to teaching and learning, the curriculum addresses three inter-related questions:

  • What do we want to learn?
  • How best will we learn?
  • How will we know what we have learned?
The learning model is constructivist and based on the belief that students come to any learning situation with prior knowledge which can be built upon.
